Tied the Knot in Las Vegas and Honeymooned in San Francisco

We did it! Laura and I got married on December 2, 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Then, we quickly left town for coastal destinations, via Baker and Barstow, California. Despite all of the stories and warnings, from our associates, we opted to spend some time in San Francisco and visit "The Rock" Alcatraz. We expected to find homeless camps and human excrement everywhere, but that wasn't the case, on our visit. 

In fact, we saw more human filth in places, like Phoenix and Las Vegas. Our visit to Clark County included a trip to the Marriage License Bureau, which is right next door to the courthouse. Now, that was a collection of garbage, which included a screaming nut-job babbling nonsense on almost every corner. We only saw one of those in San Francisco, near Pier 39. And for those looking for a Fremont Street Experience, it's nearly deserted at 4:00 am. 

Our 2202 mile ling trip took us across the California desert and as usual, made that stop in Baker to see the alien jerky store and the World's tallest thermometer. The traffic congestion and noise of Las Vegas, was something we were looking to avoid, so we spent a quiet night in Barstow, before making our way to the coast, via CA-58 to Morro Bay. Most of my westward trips include driving a few segments of the historic Route 66.

Despite driving such a long distance through the country's most populated state, we did't see too many people, nor did we get hung up in traffic jams. We enjoyed windy roads, cows on hillsides and plenty of trees on our way to the coast. Upon reaching US-1, we headed north to San Simeon, the location of our ocean view hotel and balcony. For a coastal town, this place was nearly deserted. We had the beaches to ourselves and there were only a few other guests staying in our hotel. There were only a few people at The Friends of Elephant Seals. In fact, there were more seals.

On our third day, we did encounter a little more traffic, once we got some distance north of the Pigeon Point Lighthouse. US-1, Bonny Doon Beach and Big Sur were yet, other places we had almost entirely to ourselves. It was clear that these curvy and narrow roads were not for people, who were in a hurry. I'm sure this is not the case, during summer months. The primary reason for our off season travel is to avoid lines and crowds. 

In San Francisco, it was relatively easy to navigate the streets. Parking at our hotel was a little tight, but we did have a quiet night. On Thursday morning, we visited Alcatraz and found sourdough chowder bowls on Pier 39. Our return trip took a little less time, but nonetheless, we didn't have to deal with any problems. Although it wasn't a trendy destination, we spent our last night in Bakersfield and enjoyed steak and endless shrimp at Sizzler. Before heading home, we made a stop at the London Bridge in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.

My visit to the People's Republic California, a stay at Motel 6, suspicions & ICE

Periodically, I take brief trips to places most people would find unsafe, strange or even foreign. My latest excursion was to the People's Republic of California and I spent two nights at a Motel 6 in Jurupa Valley. I used this location as a base, while I explored parts of Imperial County, including the Salton Sea, Slab City and the Los Angeles area. On the upside, Motel 6 is pet friendly, so border canine Bailey came along. Unfortunately, that's where the "pro" column comes to an abrupt end. 

Upon checking in and paying for a Wi-Fi connection, I made my way to room 108, which was in the back, near the pool. The garbage can, immediately outside my door, was overflowing with trash and it stayed that way, for the duration of my stay. In the room, next door, was what appeared to be a Mexican family. My tranquility was soon interrupted, by a Hispanic male shouting profanities and throwing things around, right outside my door. Throughout the evening, all I heard were babies crying and shouting. Motel 6 staff seemed powerless to control this situation and refused to bring in the police to remove the miscreants. 

I thought this chain had an occupancy limit or at least it did, when I made my reservations, online. After all, there were only two towels in my room. I guess the crew, next door, had to share towels and hot bunk, too. I saw people standing along the wall, so it looked like there weren't enough places to sit, which would explain why people and children were outdoors, in the pouring rain. By the second night, the family was gone and housekeeping appeared to be working rather late to get the room cleaned up. I'm sure they left a big mess behind. 

The Wi-Fi was plagued with problems. Barely an hour, after getting online, my session was suddenly terminated. The front desk staff were incapable of resolving this problem, so I called their tech support line. Apparently, someone, also having the access code, was trying to log in on the service I paid an extra $5.00/day for. This wasn't the work of some far away hacker or Nigerian 419 scammer. I suspect a motel employee was accessing the internet, using services paid for by its' customers. Where I come from, that's called employee theft. My Review

ICE used info provided by Motel 6 to target 'guests with Latino-sounding names,' lawsuit says

"On a number of occasions after reviewing the guest list, ICE agents arrested or detained Motel 6 guests," the suit states. ICE agents work under the jurisdiction of the Department of Homeland Security and are responsible for arresting people who are not legal residents. ABC

Honestly, I really don't have a problem with hotel and motel staff reporting people to Immigration Customs Enforcement. All too often, the hospitality industry facilitates and promotes human trafficking. Usually, as long as the rent's paid, the proprietors are just supposed to look the other way. Human trafficking is a sickening crime at odds with our very humanity. An estimated 25 million people are currently victims of human trafficking for both sex and labor. More

Remember the terrorist attack in San Bernardino, California? Neighbors of the shooters said they had noticed “suspicious activity” but were afraid they’d be accused of profiling. “She was kind of suspicious and wanted to report it,” neighbor Aaron Elswick told ABC of another neighbor after the shooting, “but she said she didn’t want to profile.” More

In the Phoenix area, some guests at Motel 6 got an unwelcome amenity after they checked in for the night. Agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, knocked on the door, asked for papers and sent guests without documentation to an immigration detention center. NPR

My autumn vacation and fact finding trip, south of the border to Nogales, Sonora

The intense 100° F weather of Arizona's long summer is finally over, as autumn has officially arrived. Taking advantage of this pleasant weather, I embarked on a week-long excursion, across Arizona and into Sonora, Mexico. In seven days, I covered almost 1800 miles and visited a variety of historic sites and museums. Anyone that has had the opportunity to travel with me, knows my trips are sometimes dangerous, but always educational. 

The drive to Nogales, along Interstate 19, from Tucson is almost always the same. Upon reaching my destination, I found a $4.00 parking lot, grabbed my camera bag and made the short hike to the Port of Entry, where I quietly walked into Mexico. As with my previous visit, there were very few gringos (tourists). News of cartel violence keeps those retirees away from border towns, like Nogales. Many of the storefronts, lining the gritty streets, were vacant and shopkeepers were outside trying to lure customers to their merchandise. 

Once of got off the beaten path, the armpit of Nogales was soon, before my eyes. I walked down streets, lined with piles of trash, as stray dogs were looking for a little bite to eat. After rounding one corner, I could smell marijuana and immediately saw a lookout sitting on a wall. Less than ten minutes later, across the street from the Tecate Bar, some young fellow walked up to me and advised me this wasn't the place to be taking photographs. 

Looking the part of a tourist, I made nice, with this mouthy anti-photography guy and continued with my walking safari. Of course, we came across the usual Communist and Marxist revolutionary graffiti, just outside the tourist area, too. With open borders, we would be inviting this extremely anti-American and dangerous ideology into our country. It's bad enough that it's already being taught in our public schools, under the guise of “ethnic studies.”

For those of you with short memories, think back to 2010, when Arizona passed SB-1070. The leftists and open borders advocates continuously shrieked about how states cannot enact or enforce their own immigration laws. Officially, the Federal government is taxed with immigration enforcement, so anything California does to "Trump" existing statutes, should technically be "null and void," unless some rogue activist judge in Hawaii files some gibberish, in the form of an injunction, which would be upheld by more activist left-wing judges in the Ninth Circuit Court.

Muslim murderers Syed Rezwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik had, what police called, a “bomb-making factory” in their apartment. They possessed improvised explosive devices (IEDs), with remote-controlled cars for delivering payloads to their targets. What does “gun-control” have to do with thwarting Muslim killers, with bomb making factories, in apartment buildings? Fact: The only immediate defense Americans have, during an attack, is themselves. 

This is not a Second Amendment issue. California has some of the strictest gun laws in the US. Paris has infinitely stricter gun laws, than California. Yet, mass shootings happened in both places, nonetheless. The real issue are the sick and terror driven ideologies that motivate these people. If there were no guns, fertilizer bombs would work amazingly well, in the absence of firearms. Gasoline and matches would also work, when explosives aren't readily available, too.

Barack Obama urged the country to take steps to reduce mass shootings, including stricter gun laws and stronger background checks. They didn't even have time to finish counting the dead, before Obama politicized this shooting. Of course, he will be the first to whine about others politicizing something he doesn't like. Gun control is about government control of citizenry, not about protection of anyone. It is essential to a dictator that we are unarmed and that mobs have free reign, so he can claim that peace can only come through him. 

New Weaponized Term Emerges From San Bernardino Shooting – “Assault Clothing”

Now, we have a new term to add to the list of invented terms that is meant to frighten people and create a brand new set of assumptions – assault clothing. By noon, according to police, the couple had donned assault clothing, armed themselves with rifles and stormed a holiday party attended by San Bernardino County employees, killing 14 people and wounding 17 others.  It sounds like this was something these people carefully planned, over a period of time. You don't just whip up multiple explosive devices, when you run home to get your wife, your guns and your tactical gear. You don't just get ticked off at a "holiday party" and have things like that (and your wife/girlfriend) all ready to go, when you run home, unexpectedly. 

I may not know why Farook wanted these people dead, but this isn't a spur of the moment, fly off the handle, “flip out” kind of situation. This was premeditated. I was wondering why the speaker at the press conference didn't give out specifics on the shooters. Now, we know why and what the media doesn't really want to say: Two Muslims ambushes innocent co-workers and murdered/wounded them in a pre-planned attack at a Christmas party.

Ready for the good news? California will never have a shortage of government agencies. Until we get some adults, who can make a few tough decisions, things aren't going to get better. Of course, we already know that the government exists not about solving problems. "Never let a good crisis go to waste." Instead of solving problems, billions are spent on special interests and pork barrel projects, while lining the pockets of lobbyists and "shareholders."

As difficult as it may be to face, the simple fact is that California is running out of water — and the problem started before our current drought. NASA data reveal that total water storage in California has been in steady decline since at least 2002, when satellite-based monitoring began, although groundwater depletion has been going on since the early 20th century. Right now the state has only about one year of water supply left in its reservoirs, and our strategic backup supply, groundwater, is rapidly disappearing. L.A. Times

Familglietti called for an immediate and dramatic rationing of water, including for domestic, municipal, agricultural and industrial uses. A recent Field Poll shows that 94 percent of Californians surveyed believe the drought is serious, and one-third support mandatory rationing. While much of California remains in the grip of a three-year drought, a $1 billion desalination plant that will turn seawater to drinking water is on track to open later this year to serve residents of San Diego County. Once running, the plant will be the largest of its kind in the Western Hemisphere. It will lessen the local water authority’s dependence on water imported from other regions — but at a starting price that is twice the rate the authority now pays for drinking water. IBT

California drought worst in 1,200 years – study

The state of California is going through the worst drought in at least 1,200 years, the US scientist said after analyzing tree rings. It’s now drier in California than during the 1930's dust bowl and the historic droughts of the 1970's and 1980's, a study published by the American Geophysical Union said. Californians use an average of 181 gallons of water each day, a state total of around 2.5 trillion gallons a year, according to data from the UGSC website. RT 

California's corrupt leadership has deliberately exacerbated the drought, by releasing water from dams at exactly the wrong (right) time. Exactly as they did in the 1930's; it was the subject of the classic film, "Chinatown." The film's protagonist, Jake (played by Jack Nicholson), discovered midnight dumping of reservoir water into the ocean. That was not fiction, it really happened, and they did it to make the drought worse, because it profited the rich.

California should brace for the 'Big One' – US Geological Survey

Thousands of earthquakes occur in California every year, as the state sits on a network of faults between the North American and Pacific tectonic plates. A 2006 study focusing on the San Andreas fault system found that it was past due for a major earthquake – one with at least a 7.0 magnitude. The study concluded that the southern region of the fault had not seen a massive quake in around 300 years. RT

I think two areas of exceptionally high risk have been left out in this broad summary. They are the whole Santa Barbara coastline where the gigantic 2500 mile Murray Fracture Fault Zone, 30 miles wide and running East-West intersects with the San Andreas Fault. This Fracture Zone has thrown the whole of the southern part of the USA eastward by about 100 miles at this point. Even the San Andreas Fault has been forced to zigzag east here, before continuing south. The Murray Fracture zone is bordered by the Channel Islands and the Santa Barbara Coastline. I have received many positive comments from viewers regarding American Militias. The only thing some of my friends didn't like was Mark Potok of the Southern Poverty Law Center. To many, the SPLC is a group that points fingers and promotes bias towards people they don't like. Some would even call it a “hate group”. This organization attaches defamatory labels to people they have never met and know very little about.

These well paid “bias promoters” try to encourage others to dislike certain types of people for a variety of reasons, some being quite vague. Baptist churches have even fallen under their radar. I honestly believe the SPLC is adamantly against the First Amendment, portions of the Bill of Rights, along with many other parts of the U.S. Constitution. Sadly, they exploit the law and people to enrich themselves, while asserting their agenda.

I also couldn't help, but notice some of our detractors could only make negative “ad hominem” comments. I did a little research and provided a few links for your own research. From what I discovered, it appears somebody's casting stones in a glass house.

Southern California State Militia

SoCal Militia, a Michigan unit and a lone sad sack from AZ who is also a "National Socialist" were portrayed, complete with Swastika-festooned comic opera flag. They spent a lot of time on the Nazi, showing him walking through the desert futilely, looking for drug smugglers and illegal immigrants, accompanied by vicious dogs and an outstanding candidate for a fat farm. One of Tony Burke's comrades was quite critical and intolerant of heavy people. From the looks of the video he posted, there are several obese people in his group. Apparently, his heavy people are just fine and our heavy people are completely unacceptable. Doesn't that make you wonder who the real bigots are? Bear in mind, more than 50% of the U.S. population carries a few or even more than a few extra pounds.

We, in the National Socialist Movement welcome and utilize people of all ages and fitness categories in our border operations. Grandmothers, petite women and the disabled have been known to patrol with us. Ironic that this so called militia group brags about their "brown faces," but criticizes heavy people in other groups. This is not Hollywood and everyone doesn't look like Stallone or Schwarzenegger. It's "We the people." 
 

Although we are an exclusively Caucasian White Civil Rights organization and political group, blacks, Native Americans and Jews have also patrolled alongside our members. Contrary to the SPLC, the National Socialist Movement is NOT a hate group. We don't use the term "Nazi" in describing ourselves, either. Wait a minute! The “People's Republic of California” is a state that banned high capacity magazines and prohibits the open carry of firearms. More Technically, a person purchasing a firearm at the gun store could be arrested carrying it out to their car. How can they legally have a worthwhile militia in the first place? Why did they let such a horrible thing happen to their state, anyway? Shame on them! I'm surprised Diane Feinstein and her Communist goons haven't sent all of these guys off to the "gulag" or “re-education camps.”
 

Are they doing anything to control the gang problem or deter crime? It does not appear so. How many lives have they saved? Zero? What are they really doing? Section 311 of US Code Title 10, entitled, "Militia: composition and classes" in its entirety:

(a) The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard.
