In Search Of: The Swastika in and Around Arizona and How They Don't Symbolize Hate or Nazis

From turn of the century ghost towns, to downtown Casa Grande, to ancient petroglyphs, I've found swastikas all over the state of Arizona. None of them represent Nazis or hate. In fact, these symbols were considered to be good luck. Unfortunately, negative propaganda has all but distorted the facts behind this intriguing and mysterious symbol.

Swastikas on old Arizona road maps?

Fellow road warrior Tim Steil pointed out this Arizona roads site, which shows a scan from a 1927 Rand McNally atlas. And look on the lower right corner of the page, a swastika on the Arizona highway marker. Swastikas on the Colorado

Spanning the Colorado River between California and Arizona stand a concrete dam and bridge which are decorated with swastikas. These crosses, which have come to symbolize horror for millions of people, are recessed an inch and a half into the heavy concrete surrounding them and were undoubtedly meant to last for generations. Eerily similar to the proportion and design used by Adolf Hitler, there are forty-seven of the swastikas which range in size from eight inches square up to eighteen inches square.

Local lore has it that W.W.II German POW’s were responsible for incorporating the swastika within the structures while helping renovate the dam and bridge during WWII. Although there was a German POW camp in the nearby Yuma AZ area during that period, the swastikas were not put there by German prisoners. Swastika Hindu symbol over restaurant door offends customer

PHOENIX (KPHO) -Paula Slamowitz just wanted Mexican food, when she walked into her new, neighborhood Filibertos. What she encountered, was not very appetizing.

"I was shocked," she tells CBS 5 news, when she saw a red swastika symbol painted above the front door. She was immediately offended by what it stood for, to her. "Nazi-ism, Germany, Skinheads."

Perhaps, I will start frequenting Filiburtos more often. I don't find the symbols hateful or offensive. Aren't we supposed to respect other cultures? So much for tolerance and diversity. I wouldn't expect anything less from a person named Slamowitz.

Oy Vey! It's like the Holocaust is happening all over again! Give it a rest lady. The Nazis didn't have a monoploy on symbols. These people really get on my nerves. Of course, the liberal media feeds on this like sharks on chum.

Arizona Once Revered the Swastika

Eighty years ago you saw it everywhere in Arizona. That strange symbol, once venerated, now hated, but always misunderstood. Every Arizona Highway route marker used to carry the swastika emblazoned on an Indian arrowhead. As a kind of talisman, the swastika marked the location of trading posts and shops selling Native American art, and it was a common element of the designs woven into Navajo blankets and Pima baskets. The white man recognized it from the old country and molded it into concrete and plaster where it survives to this day. Back then it was a happy symbol of kind thoughts and good luck for the traveler, not the symbol of hate that brought holocaust to Europe. After Action Report: NSM's Reclaim the Southwest, Las Vegas, Nevada

On Saturday June 25th, NSM members from Arizona, California, Las Vegas and Utah along with Supporters, protested illegal day laborers at the Star Nursery on Eastern Ave. When we arrived, a group of 8-10 illegal's were at the Nursery looking for work, but moved rather quickly across the street to the Circle K gas station.

With NSM and American flags waving in the wind, we received cheers, salutes, and thumbs up from many passing motorists whom were in support of our operation. Toward the end of the rally, a few anti's showed up across the street, but were quickly dispersed. All in all, the rally was a complete SUCCESS.

After the rally, a BBQ was held where our comrades could relax, and new plans were being set forth.

My being in Las Vegas over the weekend didn't stop my neighbor(Bonefield) from calling the Pinal County Sheriff's Office. I was over 320 miles away with multiple witnesses including the media. Just try to blame this crock of fecal material on me.

National Socialist Movement's June 25th "Reclaim The Southwest" Rally In Las Vegas Overshadowed By The Electric Daisy Carnival

The National Socialist Movement held a rally against illegal immigration in Las Vegas, Nevada on June 25th, 2011, but one would not know it from consulting local media. Only one outlet, KVVU Channel 5, bothered to publish a report, and it was bare-bones. Most likely the local media was preoccupied with something called the Electric Daisy Carnival, which was basically a three-day rave attracting 250,000 people.

For the record, I never uttered one word to my accuser. The incident that landed me in court never happened. In fact, the prosecutor moved to dismiss the case. The judge refused.

As a result of this action, I'm going to make an attempt to get on the ballot for Justice of the Peace in J.P.#8 as a National Socialist candidate during the next election cycle.

I believe an openly racist person would be more fair than the current judge. I spent quite a bit of time observing this court and have yet to see one person to be found "not guilty". This has got to be statistically impossible.

National Socialist Movement: “No Trabajo Sabado”(No work Saturday) at the Star Nursery, Las Vegas, Nevada

On Saturday June 25, 2011 from 12 noon until 1:30 pm NSM Nevada returned to the streets with a demonstration against illegal immigration. NSM Nevada along with NSM chapters from Arizona, California and Utah are continuing the Reclaim the Southwest Campaign, in order to increase public awareness of the illegal immigration problem. This mass migration of primarily uneducated and unskilled people has become a burden to all Americans.

Upon arriving at our “venue”, we observed numerous suspected illegal aliens loitering under some bushes at the Star Nursery as well as a liquor store next door. There was the usual assortment of trash and empty beverage containers littering the premises.

After approximately 25-30 NSM members, probates and supporters showed up at 12:00PM for a walking picket along the pedestrian walkway, they almost immediately became visibly uneasy and left the area! I observed a number of them at a bus stop more than a quarter mile down the street.

We received lots of support from passing motorists. And, although a few antifascists appeared, they did not have the courage to directly engage us. Instead, they opted to observe us from a safe distance. There were no objects thrown, nor were there any incidents of violence that are common at many of our events.

Effectively what NSM-Nevada has done is to make a public statement that this is NOT the land of illegal aliens, nor can they take our jobs by milling about in public or at local businesses.

Fence to deter day laborers at Star Nursery taken down

LAS VEGAS, NV - The fence around Star Nursery came down this week only 2 months after it went up to keep day laborers off the property. Star Nursery originally put up the fence in October.

The nursery told us they had been getting more and more customer complaints about the laborers and said they suffered some pricey property damage. So they put up a barrier. North Las Vegas Police see increase in complaints about day laborers

Day laborers in North Las Vegas will now be cited if they're caught violating nuisance laws, like jaywalking or urinating in public. That means up to $1130 in fines or up to six months in the slammer.

The strict enforcement didn't come as a surprise to the day laborers in North Las Vegas. Warning fliers were handed out to them in English and in Spanish just last month.

NSM Media Spokesman vs. PCSO Public Information Officer

My little exchange with Tim Gaffney of the Pinal County Sheriff's Office is beginning to attract lots of attention. His attempt to get me to delete what are nothing more than generic “file photos” from my blog has failed.

The image of the police vehicle looked like those one might find in the weekly Auto Trader. The photo of the sheriff was taken at local tea party. Neither were particularly outstanding or noteworthy.

Oddly, I have not received any further correspondence from Tim Gaffney regarding this matter. Apparently, he realized, he overstepped his boundaries. Regardless of this fact, I'm an agitator and will continue to agitate wherever I see fit. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

I don't want this incident to diminish the great job most of the rank and file deputies perform on a daily basis. I have no issues with them. It's the higher ups that have future political ambitions, I'm most concerned with. I think law enforcement should be “apolitical”.

"Is the police censoring the press and the internet?"

The "Constitution" trumpeting Sheriff Babeu and his sidekick Gaffney are trying to restrict what SGT Harry L. Hughes III (NSM-AZ) posts on his Internet blog. It appears Babeu and Gaffney don't feel the First Amendment applies to Hughes.

While I was attending the NSM National Meeting in Trenton, New Jersey, the Vekol Valley drug corridor became the scene of another gun battle involving Mexican drug gangs. On April 14, 2011, two Mexicans were shot, one fatally.

I'm not sure why, but the media immediately places a “victim” label on anyone that gets shot or killed. I don't see them as victims. I see them as enemy combatants that got what they deserved for attempting to destroy our country with drugs and violence.

Antelope Peak shooting victim: Rip Crew member or smuggler?

On April 14 at 2:15 a.m. the Arizona Department of Public Safety responded to a 9-1-1 call regarding a shooting at a rest area near mile post 150 and Interstate 8. When DPS arrived, they found a 35-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

The victim reported he ran through the desert towards the rest area and called his daughter in Phoenix. The daughter in turn called 9-1-1 to report the shooting. Former U.S. immigration attorney sentenced for taking more than $400,000 in bribes to help illegal immigrants

A former federal immigration attorney from Rancho Cucamonga was sentenced Monday to 17 years in prison for accepting more than $400,000 in bribes in exchange for helping illegal immigrants remain in the United States.

Constantine Peter Kallas, 40, was convicted last year of three dozen felony counts, including bribery, obstruction of justice, fraud, identity theft and tax evasion.

The former assistant chief council with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement operated a far-reaching scheme in which he falsely represented himself to immigrants as a judge, illegally claimed worker's compensation benefits and misappropriated the identities of others, prosecutors said.

We will find corruption on every level. We'll find it in police departments, the courts and even state bar associations. By looking the other way and not enforcing immigration laws by punishing those that violate the law, a poor example is set. Not only that, there's no motivation for the offenders to mend their ways. Crime does pay and it pays well when government takes a hear, see and speak no evil approach.

Crime involving illegal aliens and Mexicans is still a plague on my community. Until the government accepts responsibility, everyone will pay the price. As long as this continues, we will patrol the desert seeking out those that wish to harm our country.

NSM Rally: Claremont, California, Saturday, March 19, 2011

I made the journey to attend the National Socialist Movement rally in Claremont, California over tht open borders zealots, Brown Berets and anarchists counter protested on the streets of Claremont.

Shortly after arriving at the protest, the annoying Naui confronted me about lying about stealing my copyrighted images over a year ago. I still don't understand how an image on the memory card in my camera that is registered with the U.S. Copyright office doesn't belong to me. In typical Mexican form, he said that there was a mistake. He's right, there was a mistake and HE made it. I posted a video of our exchange on my page to the right.

Apparently, property ownership concepts are much different to Mexicans. After all, they seem to think we stole their land when in fact, we purchased it from their government more than 140 years ago. Naui is nothing but a racist agitator that will one day end up on the receiving end of an ass kicking or worse.

Following my “discussion” with Naui, a man later identified as Mohammed Martinez, 63, of East Los Angeles, bragged about how he murdered American soldiers during the Vietnam War. Anyone that openly admits to murder in front of multiple video cameras and dozens of police officers, probably isn't right in the head. Hopefully, he'll get the help he needs. The military should also check out his story in case he's on the level.

Claremont After-Action Report; Unity In Claremont!

On Saturday, March 19th, members and supporters of the National Socialist Movement stood thirty strong on the northwest corner of Indian Hill and Foothill Blvd in Claremont, California. This rally was at the request of local residents whom are members and supporters and have grown tired of the outspoken local college kids and campus staff that support the lawlessness of open borders and the violence from the Mexican drug cartels.

With our banner and flags in hand we used a bullhorn to logically explain the dangers of open borders. The erratic and emotionally charged counter-demonstrators spewed their anger and hatred in an attempt to distract us from the issue of illegal immigration.

A crowd of homosexuals and Hispanics waving rainbow flags collected on the opposite side of the street. This Motley crew grew to almost 50 people within 20 minutes of our arrival. We became grateful for their presence because their unintelligible signs supported our claim that California's educational system has been devastated by illegal immigration. Single-syllable words took effort to read and they slaughtered multi-syllable words making their signs illegible. Finding a sign in their crowd that was readable was like finding Waldo in a Where's Waldo Book and the experience proved to be very entertaining.

As we chanted and gave short speeches we found additional supporters in the oppositions crowd. While the Homosexuals and Hispanics yelled, cursed, and threatened us, they were silenced and scared when they discovered one of our supporters standing next to them. Our friend and supporter Lonnie, from the Creativity Movement, stood in the oppositions crowd with his family after he was unsuccessful in meeting with us before the rally.

Although the opposition threatened us repeatedly they refused to attack our comrades that appeared in their crowd. Instead, they attacked a young women far away from our reach. We are unsure of their excuse for the attack, however, we know the true reason; this girl was attacked because she was seen as an easy target.

A few times we could see the oppositions crowd turn on each other while we stood in unity. We would like to thank the Skinhead family SPS and Lonnie and his family from the Creativity Movement for their support at the rally and their constant determination to fight for White Civil Rights. We forged new bonds as we stood in unity with comrades from SPS. We are happy to see that 40 proud Whites are willing to stand as one in Claremont. Although some of them were forced into our oppositions crowd.

The rally had proven successful before we had even hit the streets. We received many new inquiries and we gained new membership immediately after announcing our intention to rally in Claremont. While the opposition yelled,"go home" we shook hands with the local Claremont residents that invited us as they thanked us for our presence. We will continue to fight against illegal immigration. We have seen the impact of illegal immigration in our communities and schools and we have seen the deaths and devastation at the border during our ongoing border ops.

Hundreds attend peaceful rally to counter neo-Nazi event in Claremont

CLAREMONT - Hundreds of people attended a rally Saturday against hate. The Claremont for Peace rally was held at Memorial Park to counter a neo-Nazi rally by the National Socialist Movement. About 30 people attended the neo-Nazi rally, police said.

White supremacists, immigrant rights activists face off in Claremont

But immigrant rights activist Ernesto Ayala, a member of the Brown Berets and La Raza Unida, said Hall and his fellow demonstrators had "backward and racist beliefs."

"We're not going to stand by and let them roll over people's rights," he said.

Hall said his group had been invited to rally in Claremont by local members, who are concerned about what they view as the city's overly liberal policies of protecting illegal immigrants. These include allegedly allowing students who are in the country illegally to easily enroll at Claremont Colleges; and allegedly supporting illegal day laborers.

On Saturday, Hall and his cohorts gathered on a street, clutching a banner adorned with the letters of the National Socialist Movement and a swastika in the middle. Some in the group wore black battle uniforms. Others were shirtless, sporting heavy tattoos. Many had shaved heads.
